Dear friends.
I have no special man in my life but I celebrate Valentine's day. this year I have presents, a beautiful bear, a rose bush with two red roses, a cup cake with hearts, a card, champagne. I am having my nails done and going out for dinner. certainly making a big deal. I love it but most of the people I asked yesterday don't do anything. Do you celebrate Valentine's day?

Dear Susan,
you are making quite a splash today. I guess it is all about loving yourself and I am all for that - and for celebrating whatever events are meaningful - big or small. Valentines day does not really do it for me - perhaps I have been married too long. The romance is still there - it still comes along now and then though, usually unexpectedly. We still like hanging out together and that's the main thing for me.
